about

The goals for this track were to use all of the features learned in a semester long class on Apple Logic Pro 8. It had to feature at least two audio recordings in addition to any midi/softsynths, so it features me on guitar and my wife on tuba. A slightly different version of this track is featured on her album, “O quam mirabilis”. Many of the low synth like sounds and drones are snippet recordings of her tuba that were reprocessed and either sampler looped or fed into various synthesizers and resampled. All guitar processing for this was done using Line 6 hardware and software.

The overall imagery I was working with for this piece was of a camp in a desert at night, where the wind is still quite warm, but there being a sense of a coming storm or conflict. Something that has happened before yet still is new every time. The title is one I had for quite a while and first came from an anime that I’m very fond of called ‘Full Metal Alchemist’ but the imagery of the Ouraborus (the picture of a serpent that is eating it’s own tail and representing cycles or infinity) also has a lot of meaning for me as a lot of my art and even my pseudonym, “MobiusB”, is related to cycles and patterns.

I’d like to first thank my wife for her endless encouragement and patience, not only with my music but also with starting Ember. I’d also like to heavily thank Kurt Lorenz for being my indispensable other half on getting Ember started and keeping it running. Lastly, my huge thanks, awe and gratitude to all the other artists that have joined Ember Music and have already made it amazing and incredibly special.
